Old Town Suites puts you right on one of the main arteries of Key West, Truman Avenue, barely a block from Duval Street. You can get to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in five minutes, walking past six-toed cats to the famous writing studio. The Key West Lighthouse is "right around the corner," as another top-of-the-island viewspot would surely be described by someone who'd just climbed its stairs.

Standing at the very center, you may choose to walk down for your obligatory photo with the buoy or up north toward Mallory Square and its sunset celebration-both are approximately equal walking distances from here. This immediate area contains both commercial and residential structures; two pharmacies-CVS and Walgreens-carrying all necessary items plus several art galleries provide good browsing opportunities. You are within an easy walking distance (or extremely short bike ride) to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park Beach-a real beach where one can swim or snorkel on this island far better than attempting such activities at any of the smaller south shore beaches.
